A ground-breaking Afghan television host whose Western style drew praise from youthful fans and condemnation from Muslim clerics may have been slain with involvement from her own brothers, police have said. Shaima Rezayee, 24, who tossed aside her burqa for Western dress and became a host on an MTV-style music show, knew her life was in danger, according to a radio interview she gave not long before she was shot in the head at her Kabul home Wednesday.
Sigh. This morning, Culture of Life News called Laura Bush a 'Liberation Barbie Doll' because she brainlessly mouths freedom and civil rights platitudes and then retreats to the WH to eat bon bons and dream of stallions whanking. She doesn't realize that real humans really die thanks to her actions and words.

Forget Newsweek riling the Muslims, here is something really nasty. This host's own brothers murdered her. She probably thought she could imitate Laura Bush because everyone was telling her, she was free. The Soviets were able to protect women in Afghanistan but America poured money and weapons into the hands of reactionaries who drove out the Soviets and promptly reenslaved the women.
In the years since, several private television and radio stations have started broadcasting. Many operate under tight security, well aware of criticism from religious leaders who oppose women in Western dress, women working or women singing publicly.

The station that featured Rezayee, Tolo TV, has in particular drawn fire. In March the country's council of Islamic scholars criticized Tolo and other stations for transmitting "programs opposed to Islam and national values." Tolo TV executives dismissed Rezayee that same month under pressure from conservative clerics.

Her hour-long show, "Hop," showed videos of Western singers such as Madonna, as well as Turkish and Iranian pop.
Fighting for women's rights is a long effort. I remember the many attacks on myself, the spitting, name calling, physical attempts at domination, the hysteria, all because I wanted equal rights and the right to work for a living in "male" occupations. I had to use the courts, the police, politics and sheer willpower as well as fighting ability, to succeed in more than one quest. Today, Barbie Bush and her demented husband are trying to undo my hard work, the effort to circumcise and hinder me, control my body and my choices, is an unending battle. Just today, Bush joined with the minions of the German former Nazi Pope to pray that they will overturn laws that protect me and my daughter and leave us to fend for ourselves under their heel.

Meanwhile, they leave brave women in countries we control to fend for themselves, dying in the bitter end, their dreams of true freedom blown away thanks to cynical liars in America.

Freedom is on the march, indeed.

MORE NEWS:Laura Bush greeted by angry protestors at Temple on the Mount
Anti-U.S. protesters heckled Laura Bush at a major Islamic holy shrine on Sunday, during a Mideast tour meant to defuse growing anti-American sentiment in the region.

As she approached the gold-capped Dome of the Rock Mosque, Muslim worshippers shouted, "How dare you come in here, and why are you hassling our Muslims?" As she entered the holy site, located on the fault line of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, one man seethed, "None of you belongs in here."

Israeli police formed a human chain around her, pressing together to push away protesters.
