The Coming War Against Iran

b

How clever of us. Our ruler has successfully strong armed our increasingly reluctant allies into a hopeless confrontation with Iran. Like with Iraq, we hope they will help us in our never ending quest for the Oily Grail and will assist us in taking over the world's third most important oil pumping station. The European allies warn Iran to not make WMD. If Iran persists, they will do this:

After weeks of threats, Iranian officials said they decided to hold off for now on a plan to notify the International Atomic Energy Agency today of their intent to restart a uranium-conversion facility in the town of Isfahan. Instead, an Iranian diplomat who spoke on the condition of anonymity said his government was exploring an offer contained in the letter for a four-way meeting sometime in the next two weeks to discuss the latest flare-up.

The willingness of the European trio to take Iran to task if it ends a suspension of its nuclear program after six months indicated that the Bush administration is having some success in persuading key allies to take a tougher approach with the Islamic republic.

The European shift was prompted in part by frustration with Iran but also by a change in tactics by the White House. After two years of refusing to back Europe's diplomatic track with Iran, the administration decided in March to support the process in exchange for written guarantees that if talks fell apart, Europe would agree to take the issue to the U.N. Security Council.

OK. Time to open your copy of "Diplomacy for Dummies". Who sits on the Security Council in the UN? Do any of the countries sitting on this council want to prevent America from attacking yet another Muslim country? Did any of these SC countries just sign friendly agreements with Iran promising aid and exchanges of technical material and building a pipeline to their own countries? What is the collective population size of these countries? How much landmass do they own?

Answer: Russia, China and India. This is almost one half the population of the earth. One third the landmass of the earth. All possess nuclear bombs themselves. All are rather annoyed that America is roaring ahead with hypermilitarism and is rearming the military with even more sophisticated WMD. So who is in the wrong here?

The Germans and French know perfectly well the promise to take Iran's matter to the Security Council is a farce. Iran knows they won the last few rounds in this little game. Even the Washington Post says this:

But neither European nor U.S. officials were confident yesterday of what a referral to the council would ultimately mean or how much support they could expect there. Unlike the IAEA board, the council has the international legal authority to impose economic sanctions or threaten Iran with force if its program is seen as a danger.

Both China and Russia have said they want the issue resolved within the IAEA, and Security Council members are leery of making any moves that could be perceived as hostile or that might be used to justify later military action against Iran.

So why this futile exercise? Why are our poor allies being dragooned into this hopeless venture that will only further annoy powerful trading partners Europe wants to court? If we look at our trade with Europe, we see a deficit. The entire world is in a trade deficit with America. The Europeans trusted America and when Bush, in a bubbleheaded futile attempt at throwing off the yen and yuan let the dollar deliberately nosedive, the trusting Europeans did nothing and let the euro soar. This hurt them badly and they are now forcing it back down again. To survive in a manipulative world. The anger over this is carefully concealed. The only up side was, the strong euro bought oil cheaply on world markets. This is why Europe's economy didn't collapse. But the anger over this whole mess remains. If America is going to always be unilateral when we wish and then turns around demanding concord when we need it, this whipsawing of allies ends up with the branches of our little tree being nipped off one by one.

Meanwhile, our troops are collapsing. Just yesterday, the Pentagon called off recruitment for a day to "review" their efforts in lying and conniving to lure young people to their deaths. Today we learn the victorious troops fighting in Anbar province are in not very good shape, indeed...

Among the four Marines killed and 10 wounded when an explosive device erupted under their Amtrac on Wednesday were the last battle-ready members of a squad that four days earlier had battled foreign fighters holed up in a house in the town of Ubaydi. In that fight, two squad members were killed and five were wounded.

In 96 hours of fighting and ambushes in far western Iraq, the squad had ceased to be.

This is the stew Bush wanted. And he got it. Good thing he figured out how to use daddy's pull to avoid service in Nam and then get an honorable discharge when he deserted his stateside cushy post to go off on a drug and drink binge.

We will have the ever irritable political hack enforcer, neo con Bolton, in the UN soon and we assume he will hound and harrass our allies mercilessly until they bow to Bush's ill thought out wishes. When this is all said and done we will be lucky to have any friends at all, we suppose. But then, many Americans hate having allies. They consider them "surrender monkeys" and idiots for not following us into battle. These Americans are hyper touchy and hyper proud which is why military recruitment has collapsed. They are evidently bully boys who want to pick fights and then run.

This wide yellow streak is all over the GOP. Bush and his equally cowardly minions all like to talk tough. Tomorrow you can bet, they will be back in China, begging for money. As we keep pointing out, the secret plan must be the "Make them laugh to death" ultra psyops.
