FUTILITY OF BEING TOO LATE
By Elaine Meinel Supkis
Thank you, Raw Story, yet again.
Former U.S. president Jimmy Carter delivered a shocker at an American University panel in Washington Monday: RAW STORY has learned he told the crowd he was certain Al Gore won the 2000 presidential election. The horse left that barn how many years ago? And the barn is burning down while under water, like Atlantis. The train left the station, blew up and fell off the bridge that collapsed.
There is "no doubt in my mind that Gore won the election," the erstwhile President declared, saying the 2000 election process "failed abysmally."
He also snubbed the Supreme Court for getting involved, saying it was "highly partisan."
Now he tells us. A million hours too late. I wonder about all the Democrats. What is being applied to them to strong arm them into going along with the mess we are now in? Are they as clueless as they pretend? HAHAHA. They read the polls. Now that even totally out of the loop people have noticed we are being run by a drunk lunatic, now our "leaders" step forth to lead.
HAHAHA. Except they don't dare.
Carter founded FEMA in 1979.So, Bush trashed FEMA and turned it into a joke and undid everything Carter set up and we are not supposed to look back?
When I founded FEMA "we put it together with three specific commitments," Carter remarked. "One, that it would be led [by] highly trained professionals in dealing with disasters. Secondly, that it would be completely independent and not under another agency that would submerge it. And third, that it would be adequately funded."
The former president said the key reason for creating the agency was to respond to governors who asked for a consolidation of the 16 bureaucracies previously responsible for emergency relief efforts. Carter said he hoped that the changes he ordered would have remained permanent, allowing for a more effective response to a hurricane now claiming upwards of 1000 lives.
Carter agreed with Bush on one point: "I think that now is the best time not to look back on blaming about Katrina, but to try to correct the defects that have evolved in recent years and make sure it is not repeated."
What's the matter? Will us people who want to place blame where it belongs, all turn into salt pillars? Talk about insane.
Dear Jimmy, looking back is part of the learning process. It is called "those who don't learn from history will repeat the same mistakes" or as Bush said, "Fool me twice, can't fool me again." Namely, only brain damaged people live for the moment. Anyone else doing this outside an insane asylum ends up dead or dead. This is not a good way to live.
"So what if he crashed the car, burned down the house and raped the dog. He will try to behave next time slightly better if we push hard," sounds like the Bush family as they break laws, drink, take drugs and in general, run over former boyfriends or go AWOL. Don't review their past behavior, don't judge them, what the fuck?
Normal people, when they screw up, get examined. Like at the Nuremburg Trials, we made a big to-do about past deeds. This week, a Nazi hunter who thought stealing from Palestinians was perfectly fine for Jewish fascists, wouldn't let go of the past. Weisenthal kept after gerenological Nazis while ignoring modern fascists. Don't look back, he screams as he looks backwards.
With Saddam, we want to put him on trial for things he did before 1990. We are going to detail all the Iraqis he tortured or killed. But we aren't supposed to look back to last year about us killing and torturing. We will turn into a block of salt!
The GOP, naturally, wants us to blank out their entire past. They want to apply a microscope to our own past deeds. This is the ultimate, top hypocricy. I remember the press and GOP howling about something Hillary may or may not have said 25 years ago or what Kerry may or may not have done when he volunteered for Nam while Bush was AWOL. These trivial, stupid things were hashed over harshly for weeks and weeks.
Then thousands die because of bubble boy and we aren't supposed to look back?
The corpses haven't even been picked up yet, you know! The smell is overpowering. Don't look back!
