DeLay Is Fingerprinted and Photographed by Cops

Another rat, another jail. Seems like a revolving door! DeLay is booked and mug shotted by the cops in Texas. About time.

From the Washington Post:
The booking of one of the nation's most powerful politicians was forced by an arrest warrant issued Wednesday by a district court here in the state's capital, in preparation for DeLay's eventual trial on felony criminal charges of money-laundering and conspiracy related to the allegedly illegal use of corporate funds in the 2002 state election.
He laundered so much money, all the twenty dollar bills in Texas are now faded and threadbare!
Although DeLay, 58, and his attorneys have said the charges are ill-founded and politically motivated, they could have serious consequences if upheld in court. Violations of the state's money-laundering statute -- a law commonly used against drug smugglers -- are punishable by a maximum life prison term and a $10,000 fine.
Um, the GOP passed those draconian drug laws. I wonder if he will share his cell with Rush Limbaugh, a notorious drug abuser.

Reminds me about Bush and his many brushes with the Long Weak Arm of the Texas Rangers! Seems they fell on their faces every time they passed Junior on to the next shift. Ditto his daughters. Seems the blind eye of the law goes blind when a Bush commits crimes.
DeLay was driven to the booking directly from the Houston airport, where he had arrived in a private jet with two security guards provided by the Capitol Police. A third officer arrived in Houston the previous evening. Kevin Madden, DeLay's spokesman in Washington, said he did not immediately know whose jet it was.

Ordinarily, such Capitol Police escorts are given only to House leaders, a rank that DeLay relinquished after being indicted in separate charges on Sept. 28 and Oct. 3. But Madden said the police had made a "threat-based assessment" that DeLay still warranted such protection only a few weeks after resigning his post.
So, a corporte jet from a wealthy man who wants Congressional goodies like tax cuts for Texan oil men? Har.

Who is threatening DeLay? Oh, yes, the prosecutor! Geeze, I can imagine him rushing up to DeLay and asking him rude questions about corporate jets! A serious danger, that!

Can't wait to see DeLay join Saddam on trial.

More News: From the Washington Post:
A photo of DeLay grinning from ear to ear doesn't pack quite the punch in a Democratic attack ad as one that looks more like the mugshot of, say, actor Hugh Grant.

Note the House of Representatives security pin on DeLay's lapel.

He looks in the photo like a proud member of Congress who might just have won the lottery, not one indicted on charges of money laundering. The photo looks like it could have been taken anywhere.
The editors of the WP decided to expand upon the stupid idea that Democrats will be unable to use a photo of DeLay snarling because he decided to smile. This is so ridiculous. A waste of an entire article on something really stupid.

Well, the Democrats may use my cartoon of him. This would serve him right. Feel free to use it whenever, guys! Good luck!
