Bush Wants Us to Remember How This Illegal War Began

By Elaine Meinel Supkis

Today, Bush struck back at the 57% of America which accuses him of lying about the need for a war that is now a failure. He claims we wanted this war and the Democrats voted for war, not inspections! This is yet another lie from an inverterate liar.

From Atrios:
Bush today: ``It is deeply irresponsible to rewrite the history of how the war began,'' Bush said in a Veterans Day speech today to military families at Tobyhanna Army Depot near Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. ``More than 100 Democrats in the House and Senate who had access to the same intelligence voted to remove Saddam Hussein from power,'' the president said.

Bush, 10/1/2002:

Of course, I haven't made up my mind we're going to war with Iraq.

Bush, two days after the Iraq War Resolution:

But I am very firm in my desire to make sure that Saddam is disarmed. Hopefully, we can do this peacefully. The use of the military is my last choice, is my last desire.
We on the far left, being usually right about things, knew that when Congress gave Bush the green light to force Saddam to let in the inspectors, he would immediately use it as a blanket for permission to create a war. When Saddam allowed the inspectors in, they found nothing because nothing was there. Saddam then thought the whole thing should end as he was not attacking anyone nor even threatening to attack anyone.

We had a humoungus antiwar demonstration in DC and NYC as Bush beat the drums for war and Judith Miller and her ilk lied and lied about Saddam using our top media as their base for these baseless charges. This all ended with Powell deliberately and maliciously lying to the entire world at the UN after many millions of humans had huge antiwar demonstrations across the planet.

Bush then rushed into Iraq screaming that we knew exactly where the WMD were hiding and we would find them.

None were found so this means our leader is a war criminal. We must release Saddam and repay the Iraqis for all the oil we took and for the damage our bombs and shoot outs created. Sort of like Saddam had to pay Kuwait, heh.

What makes all this much worse is that Bush and his minions conspired with reporters to lie and they knew they were lying and they attacked anyone who knew they were lying which is why they collectively broke some very serious laws trying to shut up or destroy Ambassador Wilson who explained how the data used to accuse Saddam of making nuclear bombs was fake.

Now here we are, only one person, Scooter, facing trial over this mess when the entire administration should be impeached and sent to the Hague to stand trial for crimes against humanity. Instead, we have our mini-Hitler running off at the mouth about how WE don't remember the beginning of this whole ugly mess.

From the Washington Post:
The White House went on the offensive in the debate over the Iraq war yesterday, insisting that U.S. intelligence had compiled a "very strong case" that Saddam Hussein harbored banned weapons and accusing congressional critics of hypocrisy because many of them voted for force three years ago.

Bristling from fresh assaults on its justification for war, the White House dispatched national security adviser Stephen J. Hadley to the briefing room to issue a rebuttal to "the notion that somehow the administration manipulated prewar intelligence about Iraq." The administration's judgment on the threat posed by Iraq, he said, "represented the collective view of the intelligence community" and was "shared by Republicans and Democrats alike."
Of course, much of that "intelligence" these dumb idiots showed us were either fabrications or wasn't shown at all since the Repubs cut the Democrats out of many substantial meetings. This is entirely their tar baby!
Democrats immediately took issue with Hadley's account. Within minutes of his briefing, the Senate Democratic caucus issued a statement saying the responsibility did not fall on lawmakers who voted to authorize use of force: "Some critics of how the administration misused intelligence did believe that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. What these critics object to is the hyping of the intelligence by the Bush administration."
Geeze, a year ago, any time the Democrats said anything, the WP and all the media would scream at them to shut up and apologize or just shut up. Now that the majority of Americans believe Bush is a liar as well as the war is dumb (surprized? Heh), the media, worried about everyone laughing at their nudity, have allowed the opposition some breathing space.

About time! And here is Kennedy, tearing Bush limb from rhetorical limb!
"In his march to war, President Bush exaggerated the threat to the American people," Kennedy said. "It was not subtle. It was not nuanced. It was pure, unadulterated fear-mongering, based on a devious strategy to convince the American people that Saddam's ability to provide nuclear weapons to al Qaeda justified immediate war."
Couldn't say it better, Senator. Glad you voted against it in the first place.
