Schmidt Attacks Heroes Then Congress Gives Themselves a Fat Pay Raise

By Elaine Meinel Supkis

Last night, Congress, debating a war most Americans don't want anymore, allowed newest GOP witch, Schmidt, to attack a war hero. After much screaming and yelling, Congress endorese the disasterous war and granted themselves a pay hike.

From Yahoo news:
A suicide bomber detonated his car in a crowd of Shiite mourners north of Baghdad on Saturday, killing at least 36 people and raising the death toll in two days of attacks against Shiites to more than 120. Five American soldiers died in roadside bombings.

Earlier Saturday, a car bomb exploded in a crowd of shoppers at an outdoor market in a mostly Shiite neighborhood on the southeast edge of Baghdad, killing 13 people and wounding about 20 others, police reported. Witnesses said they saw a man park the car and walk away shortly before the blast.

In the north, U.S. and Iraqi forces raided a suspected al-Qaida hideout in Mosul and at least seven insurgents died — three committing suicide to prevent capture, Iraqi authorities said. Four Iraqi policemen also were killed and 11 U.S. troops wounded, Iraqi and U.S. officials said.

The second suicide car bomb exploded late in the afternoon as mourners offered condolences to Raad Majid, head of the municipal council in the village of Abu Saida, over the death of his uncle. Abu Saida is near Baqouba, a religiously mixed city 35 miles northeast of Baghdad.
Seriously. This news shows exactly how trivial, stupid, moronic, childish and idiotic our government has become.

They want this war to continue? Well...

They should all, every one of them even the heroes, the vets, the AWOLs, the deferrment cowards, the women, the elderly, all these people running America and who have voted for war in any form in Iraq....They must go post haste. Now. Not tomorrow, today.

The pay hike they granted themselves after screaming and howling and throwing shit all evening was a real topper. Wow. And they say monkeys can't show generosity. Obviously, these flying monkeys are very generous with each other if not with Americans.

Here is the official take on all this:From the NYT:
The ferocity of the fight in the House over a measure to withdraw American troops from Iraq shows that the war may command the high ground in the coming electoral contest, and that the course of events in Iraq - whether a new government takes hold, whether the violence continues, whether American troops are still committed in large numbers and still being killed by the scores each month - will be of prime political consequence here.

But when lawmakers return next month they face other, immediate challenges that also carry substantial political risks. Some are matters related to the war, like the continuing debate on the treatment of detainees in the campaign against global terrorism. Others are the kind of domestic pocketbook issues that Congress must deal with every year - including contentious tax and spending measures - but have been impossible to resolve this year, even with one party in control of both houses.

Not just the war, but a whole series of events have turned what would have been a tough season for the Bush administration and the Republican majority into an extremely daunting one, sowing dissent among the majority's rank-and-file and providing opportunities for Democrats, who continue to have problems of their own.
Poor babies. Send them all to Iraq. This will be a pick-me-up! Have them go around Iraq painting classrooms and directing traffic. Heck, as Humvee drivers. Let them drive everywhere. Hell, have them work as guards.

Aw, just take them all to the Hague.

This war is evil as well as illegal. The debate about who to ship to the Hague for trials should be the agenda, not sqealing about how idiotic patriotic pap.

Flying monkeys could do great things in Iraq. The very least, draw fire from our troops.
