Soviet Union Reborn As USA: America Locks Out French Farmer Activist

By Elaine Meinel Supkis

In 1968, I once threatened East Germany that I would sneak in to visit and maybe agitate a tad. They were in a pure panic. Today, America has an invisible Berlin Wall, keeping out activists and even former members of Parliment even as illegal aliens pour in, unhindered. Some "beacon of freedom" this place is---no better than the Soviet Union.

From Associated Press:
An anti-globalization activist who was sent back to France after arriving at an airport here accused the U.S. government Thursday of conspiring against his cause and trying to protect big business.

Jose Bove, best known for ransacking a McDonald's restaurant in France in 1999, arrived Wednesday at John F. Kennedy International Airport, planning to speak at an event sponsored by Cornell University, but was denied entry by customs officials.

Bove was not eligible to enter the U.S. under a visa waiver program, U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokeswoman Janet Rapaport said. She said she could not discuss why.
Corporate America's death grip on our collective throats won't be challenged by any piddling French peasants! Our brave overlords and sneering earls and bellowing Sheriffs of Nothingham will stop any and all uppity peasants at the very gates of this heavily armed police state! Especially French farmers, those people who grow all that stuff that makes fine cusine!

Pass the deep fat fried pig ears! Hell, we sure don't want French food, we want Montsano Frankenfood! This particular peasant we repelled from our Iron Curtain is the same one who burned a McDonald's down. Oh, heh. We are in the middle of a blooming diabetes crisis that is rapidly turning us all into walking tubs of sick lard and we are scared of a guy who tried to stop this madness?

Eat in peace, America! Pay no attention to people who eat mushrooms dug up by pigs!

From Underreported:
The loudspeaker calls out 'McAliskey.' We go up to your man and say yes, and we're immedately surrounded by three men and a woman. They grab the passports out of our hands. One of the men says to me, "We've a fax from our agents in Dublin. It says you're a potential or real threat to the United States.'"
She told them to look at the name on the passport, which says Bernadette Devlin McAliskey.

"I've been coming back and forth to this country for 30 years," she told them.

"You've evaded us before, but you're not going to do it now," one of the immigration people, the oldest one, said.

"Look at the passport. Read the name. I was a member of Parliament."

"What year?"

"Nineteen sixty nine."

"That made you 21 years old," one of them said. "Come on." He motioned toward an office.
Our country, like the Soviet Union, will simply fester and rot, internally and internationally. Every time Bush and Condi and their army of right wing neo-fascists go out into the world and yap about freedom and democracy, just remember, the goal is to make our enemies (the PEASANTS!) laugh to death or, that failing, be shot dead.

Every time America wants to exploit peasant anger in China, it immediately blows back here so I notice they have decided to not talk about it, hoping Americans think, "I better duck my head and quietly leave my bankrupt/farm/outsourced job and go to work for McDonald's or Walmart and be happy for whatever crumbs I can get, gambling."

Having ignorant, ill trained peasants who are good mostly for cannon fodder and low value servants pleases our despotic rulers. Seeing confident, activist peasants who talk back to the rulers and dare to dispute with them sets a very bad example to the very cowed, nearly totally helpless peasants in America.

This is why Homeland Security raked that nurse over the coals for writing a strongly worded letter. I often see posters at leftist web sites detail all the fascistic garbage going on, the strong arming of citizens who are no longer really citizens but subjects, the many now open crimes of Bush, he happily spitting into our collective eyes, and then ending a rant with, "So, I will write a letter to the editor!"

Well, even that is being cut off. For a long time, no editors published letters that attacked Bush or his fascistic neo-Soviet state. Now that his unpopularity is shooting up, they are gingerly letting some of us peasants a word in edgewise and this has so irritated Bush, he is trying to squelch it just like he has anyone wearing or thinking anything that reminds him of his wars or oppressions, removed if they dare show up at any venue His Majesty attends.

US PLANS MASSIVE SPY PROGRAM! From Christian Science Monitor:
The US government is developing a massive computer system that can collect huge amounts of data and, by linking far-flung information from blogs and e-mail to government records and intelligence reports, search for patterns of terrorist activity.
The system - parts of which are operational, parts of which are still under development - is already credited with helping to foil some plots. It is the federal government's latest attempt to use broad data-collection and powerful analysis in the fight against terrorism. But by delving deeply into the digital minutiae of American life, the program is also raising concerns that the government is intruding too deeply into citizens' privacy.
Even as our Soviet-style Yes men in Congress OK all sorts of Stalinist/Hitlerian actions, they pretend they are outraged at...China! for censoring the internet. Well, here, we don't censor it, we just will spy on everyone and everything across the entire planet!

Those of us on the left know perfectly well, this isn't to stop "terrorism" which doesn't use the internet at all except in truly hidden ways, easy to think how, no, this is to track world chat about evil stuff like organizing peasants to resist American corporate powers. Period. They need to know if anyone is planning demonstrations, activities like union organizing or farm worker organizing or working to join up with or work with political parties, etc.

The usual. We have to send out our parties of Sheriffs of Nothingham to stop all these peasants on behalf of King W and this reminds me. Didn't they force an earlier Lackland King to sign a document called "The Magna Carta"? At least one of my ancestors was there, on the battlefield, when this happened. Geeze.

Bet Homeland Security is checking me out for that, too!

A SIDE NOTE: I noticed, ironically, the ad next to the story of the French Anti-GM Frankenfood activist was this:
